Hi, i have joined this site just so i can let you know what the problem is likely to be.
I had the same problem and the ford dealers told me it was either the pump, the rack, or the wiring.
Only due to a local garage having the time to look into the problem we found the answer to be....

The steering rack angle sensor.
This is bolted on to the rack where the coluum meets and it takes minutes to take off.

We got hold of a second hand one for £25 deliverd although they are only £90 something from the dealers.

Once fitted it needed resetting with a computer as most things do and its solved the problem.

Dont forgett it will need to be reset on the computer so dont just put a new one on and think it hasnt worked.

Many people have treid changing the rack and the pump and every thing else before finding out it was just the angle sensor.

I am alost 100% certain this will solve every ones problems so please give it a ago.

Only some c-max's have this electronic steering rack and im sure every one with the steering problems has an electronic one !

Some of you will dout if this will work so hes one way of finding out.

Find the sensor on the rack which you will get to from under neath the car, find and disconect the wiring plug to it.
Your steering will now be slightly hard as it would have disconnected your power steering assist.
It will also show up with a fault on the dash but the tighness will be gone.!

I drove like this for a week or two untill i got hold of the sensor and its fine to do. As i said your steering will be a little hard when in car parks etc but it will be safe im sure.
Better than driving along and your steering locking on a right turn !

Pozdrawiam
